Hi! My name is Caitlin… well, Dr. Caitlin. I am a full time Chiropractor that has a hard time saying “no.” I created this blog to document and share my adventures with all of you. I also want to help anyone in the healthcare field avoid feeling overwhelmed and burnt out from their professions. Planning a getaway (short or long) gives you something to look forward to, which also will help with your motivation to work and your happiness. Helping and accommodating patients all day every day is exhausting, even though we love it. You take care of patients….why not take care of yourself?
When I graduated chiropractic school and moved to SoFlo, I lived by myself for the first time. I worked non stop at multiple different jobs for my first two years and my “vacations” were 2 day trips becasue I didn’t have any PTO. After about 2 years, I started feeling the “burn-out” in the health care field and I didn’t enjoy going to work (and this was pre-pandemic). I quit my job, took 1 month off before starting the next, and it turned out to be exactly what I needed to get motivated about my profession/career again. Along the way, I met someone that forced me to be more spontaneous and to say “yes” to planned and/or impromptu trips. 2020 was my year of “YES!” and since then I say yes as much as I can. Say YES to adventures. Say YES to traveling. Say YES when friends ask you to go out. Say YES to taking time off and enjoying life. Taking time to spend with family, friends, and having fun is essential to avoiding the “healthcare burnout” or just burnout in general.
So, Starting today… let’s make this your “YES” year!
